"Malguina & Rubino" is a piano duet formed by Tatiana Malguina and Rodolfo Rubino. They have started their artistic partnership in 1997 as they served in the piano faculty of the Regional Conservatory of Ponta Delgada, in Azores, Portugal.
Since then, they have been giving recitals performing as a piano duo and duet team in Italy, Portugal, France, Swiss, Canada and Russia.
Tatiana and Rodolfo gave world premiere performances of duet music for and dedicated to them by contemporary composers such as Vincenzo Palermo, Evgueni Zoudilkine, Francesco Perri. During the Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 2006 Celebrations in Portugal, they presented the three great sonatas for piano four hands and the the Sonata for Two Pianos in the Festivais de outono in Aveiro, and in many other venues across the country. In March, 2014, they were invited to join the Festival de Primavera Vila Praia de Ancora, where they played music by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Ottorino Respighi, Francesco Cilea and Marco Enrico Bossi. In Russia, they participated in the Festival of the musical landscapes of the Ryazan State Museum in August, 2015, and again in the Festival of Arkhangelsk Philarmonic of 2018, where they performed many transcriptions for two pianos four hands by Tatiana Malguina. During the 2018 season, they were active in both Russia and Italy with recitals in Saint Petersburg and in Sperlonga for theSettimana mozartiana of Sperlonga. In April 2019, the Taropiano Duet performed with the Crotone Orchestra "Orfeo Stillo", the Concert for Piano four hands and Orchestra by Karl Czerny, one of the most difficult and beautiful works in the history of the piano.
The piano duet "Malguina & Rubino" possesses a vast repertoire, which includes the most important masterpieces of the "four hands" genre for piano, as well as works rarely performed in concert halls. Tatiana and Rodolfo have often focus on the works of composers such as Brahms, Mozart, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich, Debussy, Stravinsky, Poulenc, who have been able to highlight the peculiarities of this demanding piano duo/duet and display its uniqueness.
